Sciencedipity’s practical science clubs for home education are suitable for children aged 6-12, who will receive the British Science Association’s Crest Award after completing 8 activities. Younger siblings are welcome too at a reduced fee.

In-person Clubs

Currently clubs run in person at the following towns: Barnstaple, Bideford, Launceston, Tiverton, Exeter, Kingskerswell & Minehead

Workshop runs in other places, as and when, please check below.

We also run many non-home-ed workshops and events across the West Country, take a look by clicking here.

Our home-ed club’s key features are:

    • The club is fortnightly, date & time depends on the location (see below).
    • Suitable for primary aged children aged 6-12, who will receive the British Science Association’s Crest Award after completing 8 activities.
    • Club costs £10 per child per session when you block book (block booking offer closes on 25th Sept 2020) or £12.50 per child per session.
    • Children should be dropped off during the covid restrictions, but parents/carers who need to stay can but please let us know as venues have limited the numbers of people in their space.
    • Younger siblings (4-5yo) are welcome to join in with their accompanying sibling at £5 each but only older children can get the award.
    • Each session is 90 mins long, very hands-on and interactive, each session covers different topics in biology, chemistry & physics.
    • Download & print the Superstar Crest Passport here for us to stamp to record your progress.
    • Sessions are also valid for Children’s University Passports.

Workshops (in Person)

Taunton – Robot Wars
A fun introduction to circuits followed by designing, building & battling motorised Vibro-bots to take home.
Thursday November 12th, 10.30-12 at Trull Memorial Hall. £11 per child.

Science Club for Home-Educators (online)

Stay-in-Science is our online science club for home-educators, or those who are unable to go to school for whatever reason. These clubs consist of 5 fully interactive, fun science sessions presenting different topics and content each week. Each session has awesome hands-on science activities, experiments & demonstrations and includes most of the the kit.

Starts week beginning 2nd November, 10-11am, choose either the Monday or Friday slot.

Week 1, 10-11am Monday 2nd Nov or Friday 6th Nov 2020
Rainbow Science – colourful Rainbow Skittles, Chromatography,  pH testing with litmus paper.

Week 2, 10-11am Monday 9th Nov or Friday 13th Nov 2020
Fizzy Science – Rainbow Fizz, Chemical Balloons, Fizzy lemons

Week 3, 10-11am Monday 16th Nov or Friday 20th Nov 2020
Zoom Science – make rockets, gliders & catapults to learn about flight

Week 4, 10-11am Monday 23rd Nov or Friday 27th Nov 2020
Wacky Water – water based science experiments and illusions

Bubbly Science – cool bubbling lava lamps & bubbles

Not provided – scissors, sellotape, felt tips, sharpies, clear vinegar, wash-up liquid, vegetable oil, food colourings,  lemon, raisins, lemonade, glue stick, empty milk carton, kitchen paper towels, plate, glass.

Older children/teens

Ruth from Sciencedipity offers tuition for older children in particular in Biology and Microbiology. She is a Biomedical Scientist & qualified teacher  currently teaching part-time teaching at the local college as well as working in clinical molecular microbiology. Please get in touch to find out about 1-2-1 private lessons and group classes.
